Gray Motorsports Shane Gray
About
Service
Central Racing and TBC Retail Group are proud to sponsor Pro Stock
driver Shane Gray and the Service Central Racing Pontiac GXP and Chevy
Camaro for the 2012 season of NHRA Full Throttle Series drag racing.
Shane, the eldest son of veteran drag racer and current Funny Car competitor Johnny Gray, finished third in NHRA's Division 4 Competition Eliminator standings and 15th nationally in 2009, and the following year he dove head-first into the life of a professional race car driver when he settled in behind the wheel of the Service Central Racing Pontiac GXP.
In his rookie year, Shane rose to the challenge and was a finalist for the Auto Club Road to the Future Award - an honor bestowed annually upon the finest first-year competitor in each of the professional classes. The somewhat reserved and always humble driver qualified for all 23 events, won a round in his debut at the season-opening NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway Pomona, advanced to the first final round of his career in Englishtown, visited the inside of another final in Brainerd, and ended the season with a win at the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona.
His remarkable first year of professional drag racing was even more notable as the power was generated in-house. The powerplants are still brought to life and finessed in the Gray Motorsports state-of-the-art, 24,000 square foot facility in Denver, N.C., and Shane can be found in the shop right alongside his hard working crew as they strive to produce the horsepower necessary to win a Full Throttle championship.
